Earth Science Week Contests 2012Photography ContestGurneet Kaur Chhabra of Dilsukhnagar, India, won first place in the photo contest with a collage representing geoscientists studying ground fissures in India. Finalists (in alphabetical order): Submissions illustrated the theme “Earth Science Is a Big Job.” Visual Arts ContestVijeta Revankar of Seabrook, Texas, won first place in the visual arts contest with a colorful drawing depicting the field of marine biology. Finalists (in alphabetical order): Students in grades K-5 made two-dimensional artworks illustrating the theme “Imagine Me, an Earth Scientist!” Essay ContestAishani Sil from Plano, Texas, won first place in the essay contest with a short paper on the collaboration of geoscientists on hydraulic fracturing.
