For Earth Science Week 2018, the American Geosciences Institute invites you to enter the Earth Expressions video contest. Submit a brief, 30-90 second original video that tells viewers about artistic expression that stems from the natural world where you are, and how art can be an excellent way to learn about the Earth.
Earth Science Week 2018 is engaging young people and others in exploring the relationship between art, inspiration, and Earth systems, including the geosphere (earth), hydrosphere (water), atmosphere (air), and biosphere (life). This year’s celebration promotes public understanding of geosciences through art forms such as painting, sculpting, and music. Geoscience can be found everywhere in art, from the minerals in makeup to a dance performance about a windstorm. Tell us how the Earth has inspired you or someone in your community to be creative.
Your video entry might take almost any form. A public service announcement? An animated cartoon? A video incorporating your own original music? An interview with a family member, a professional geoscientist, or an artist who uses geosciences to create their work? Some other format? You decide. Be creative!
