2014 Theme

“Earth's Connected Systems,” the theme of Earth Science Week 2014, engages young people  and others in exploring the ways that geoscience illuminates natural change processes. By deepening our understanding of interactions of Earth systems -- geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere -- Earth science helps us manage our greatest challenges and make the most of vital opportunities.

Objectives

  • To engage students in discovering the Earth sciences.
  • To remind people that Earth science is all around us.
  • To encourage Earth stewardship through understanding.
  • To motivate geoscientists to share their knowledge and enthusiasm about the Earth.
