Monday, October 14: Views from Above and Below: Supporting Sustainability with Earth Observations

Tune in to the first webinar of Earth Science Week to explore how two NASA programs use Earth observation data to support global sustainability. Discover real-world applications in wildlife conservation and mangrove monitoring, and learn how K-12 educators and students can engage with data through hands-on activities on microplastics. See more details on the registration page.

Speakers:

  • Corena Pincham, Lola Fatoyinbo, and Laura Rogers from NASA
  • Tracy Ostrom, GLOBE Program Coordinator at the University of California Berkeley
Tuesday, October 15: Plastics in the Environment and Human Health

Join us as experts delve into the widespread impact of plastics, from microplastics in our ecosystems to their influence on geological dynamics. Explore how geoscientists are pivotal in mitigating plastic pollution and advancing sustainable practices for a circular economy. See more details on the registration page.

Speakers:

  • Aidan Charron, Director of End Plastic Initiatives at EARTHDAY.org
  • Nelson Rangel-Buitrago, a Geologist at the Universidad del Atlántico (Colombia)
  • Grant Rodriguez Amlani, Environmental Justice & Recruitment Manager at the U.S. Plastics Pact
Wednesday, October 16: Impact Craters and Geologic Mapping on the Earth and Moon

Join this webinar to explore lunar analog sites, essential geologic mapping techniques applicable to both terrestrial and extraterrestrial landscapes. We will also delve into innovative adaptations of geological mapping methods for planetary exploration, gain insights into low-angle lunar impacts, and learn more about a NASA program used for planetary surface research and public engagement. See more details on the registration page.
