Let your artistic skills illustrate the wonders of our planet. Join the 2024 celebration of Earth Science Week by participating in the visual arts theme “Putting the ART in eARTh Science.”

Contest Guidelines

Who can enter?

The visual arts contest is open to any interested person in grades K-5. You must also be a resident of the United States to enter.

Your artwork should focus on the topic “Putting the ART in eARTh Science.”

Earth science is everywhere and has connections with all subjects, such as other sciences, math, social studies, and even the arts. Use your imagination to show the wonders of Earth, such as the diversity of ecosystems, the dynamic processes shaping landscapes, or the beauty of our oceans and skies. Use your skills to blend your love for art with an appreciation for the planet we call home.

To be eligible, visual arts entries must be two-dimensional (flat) visual arts project no larger than 24 x 36 inches, dealing with the contest topic.

Must be original, unpublished work

Entries must be composed of original, authentic, unpublished material and must be the sole property of the entrant, not previously submitted to any other contest. Published material includes that which has been posted online. This includes, but is not limited to, Facebook, or any other social network website where photos have been posted and shared.

What do I need to submit?

The visual arts contest is limited to one submission per entrant. A valid submission will contain the following information:

  1. One visual arts submission focusing on the topic “Putting the ART in eARTh Science.”

When is the deadline?

All electronic requirements for the contest must be received by 8 p.m. ET, Friday, October 18, 2024. All mailed submission materials must be postmarked no later than Friday, October 18, 2024.Your art submission is considered incomplete until we receive all of these items.
