Participating in Earth Science Week 2026
This page provides useful information to current and future Earth Science Week (ESW) partners about how to participate in Earth Science Week 2026 which will celebrate the theme, “Critical Minerals for a Thriving Society.”
Please feel free to contact AGI’s Education & Outreach Department staff (info@earthsciweek.org) to discuss these and other ideas and/or questions about participation.
New ESW Toolkit Strategy
This year we are condensing the printed ESW Toolkit to include an expanded calendar, which we are calling the “Earth Science Week Resource Calendar.” The ESW Resource Calendar will be distributed along with several large printed items such as posters.
There are many ways you can participate in ESW:
- Be included in the printed ESW Resource Calendar
- Have a larger item in the Printed ESW Toolkit
- Participate online
- Participate in an ESW Webinar
- Contribute images to the new ESW Thematic Image Gallery
- Be an ESW Sponsor
No matter how your organization participates in ESW, we will promote your ESW-related webpage, event, or resource on ESW social media channels.
ESW Resource Calendar
This new, expanded ESW Resource Calendar will be printed and distributed in addition to being made available online. Organizations can reserve space in the calendar (option 1 below) or they may have a full 2-page spread (option 2). AGI will also dedicate social media posts to organizations that participate in the ESW Resource Calendar.
-
Page Section: For $300, your organization will be included with other ESW Partners in the 2026 ESW Resource Calendar, similar to how organizations were featured in the 2025 ESW Partner Resources page. AGI will design the layout of these pages using information provided by participating organizations, including their logo, text, and 1-2 images that can be used to promote a resource, event, or opportunity for students and/or educators.
-
Two-page Spread: Reserve a full 2-page spread in the ESW Resource Calendar for $1,500. Your organization will either send a fully designed graphic, or AGI Education and Outreach staff can work with you to develop content and/or design your ESW contribution (for an additional cost).
ESW Printed Toolkit
The printed 2026 ESW Toolkit will be condensed this year. It will include the ESW Resource Calendar and select posters. If you already have a poster or similar item printed, let us know and we can work with you on distribution. AGI will also dedicate social media posts to organizations that participate in the ESW Printed Toolkit.
Participate Online
Send AGI a resource for us to share online (which is complimentary). These resources can be included on one of the ESW Webpages listed below:
-
ESW Online Toolkit: The ESW Online Toolkit includes PDFs of visually appealing resources (e.g., poster, infographic, board game, workbook).
-
ESW 2026 Resources webpage: The webpage will include a section which links out online resources related to the ESW theme from participating organizations (e.g., lesson plan, journal article, data interface). (Example: ESW 2025 Resources webpage.)
Let us know if you would like to work with AGI Education and Outreach to develop content and/or design your ESW contribution to either the ESW Online Toolkit or the ESW 2026 Resources webpage (cost varies).
ESW Webinar
AGI hosts 5-6 webinars related to the ESW Week theme. Your organization can participate in one of two ways:
-
Webinar Segment: Select organizations with content related to the theme can record 5–20-minute segments to be included in an ESW Webinar. Let us know your organization is interested in recording a segment by emailing lbrase@americangeosciences.org.
-
Full Webinar: Ensure your organization is featured prominently during Earth Science Week by sponsoring a 1-hour webinar ($1,200). The webinar can be fully prepared by your organization or AGI can compile video segments you provide.

ESW Thematic Image Gallery
AGI is putting together an image gallery related to this year’s ESW theme, critical minerals. If you have images you would share for royalty-free educational use, please email images you would like to be considered to info@earthsciweek.org with a caption and credit. We will be in touch from there!
Be an ESW Sponsor
A tax-deductible contribution to Earth Science Week will help promote understanding of earth science, and connect with the many geoscience educators, professionals, and young people who make up the audiences of Earth Science Week. Sponsor logos are featured on the ESW Sponsor webpage, promotional videos, throughout the ESW Toolkit (e.g., Toolkit packaging, ESW Poster, ESW Resource Calendar).
Sponsorship Levels
All sponsorship levels are flexible and consider both the financial and in-kind support of organizations that contribute to Earth Science Week. Sponsorship support is flexible. To provide guidance, we currently have four levels of sponsorship (which can be modified):
-
Active Sponsors fund the development of specific educational resources, related to the sponsor’s work, field, or initiatives that are in line with Earth Science Week. Contributions include up to $10,000.
-
Distribution Sponsors contribute toward printing and distributing toolkits to educators. Every $10,000 donated allows for the printing and distribution of 1,000 toolkits. Contributions between $10,000 to $35,000.
-
Sustaining Sponsors provide support that helps cover program costs. Contributions typically range from $35,000 to $75,000.
-
Growth and Development Sponsors support expansion of the reach of Earth Science Week. Contributions above $75,000.
