Photography Contest

Gurneet Kaur Chhabra of Dilsukhnagar, India, won first place in the photo contest with a collage representing geoscientists studying ground fissures in India (below).

Submissions illustrated the theme “Earth Science Is a Big Job.”

Visual Arts Contest

Vijeta Revankar of Seabrook, Texas, won first place in the visual arts contest with a colorful drawing depicting the field of marine biology (below).

Students in grades K-5 made two-dimensional artworks illustrating the theme “Imagine Me, an Earth Scientist!”

Essay Contest

Aishani Sil from Plano, Texas, won first place in the essay contest with a short paper on the collaboration of geoscientists on hydraulic fracturing. To read the winning essay, click here.

Students in grades 6-9 wrote essays of up to 300 words addressing this year’s theme, “Geoscientists Working Together.”
