Visual Art Contest

Students in grades 6-9 wrote essays of up to 300 words addressing how the Earth sciences can help achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in areas such as poverty, nutrition, education, equality, ecosystems, climate change, and/or industrial innovation.

Yellow to Green: How School Buses Are the Next Step in Global Sustainability.
ESW 2022 Contest Photography Finalist (Grace Yan)

Grace Yan of Morgantown, WV, won first place in the video contest with their entry “Yellow to Green: How School Buses Are the Next Step in Global Sustainability,” which aims to raise awareness on air pollution and climate change and show how the smallest things on a global scale can push us toward sustainability.

Individuals and teams created brief, original videos exploring the many ways people are using the Earth sciences to make decisions that maintain and strengthen the planet’s ability to support thriving life.
